Hello,

I pray you had a blessed and Merry Christmas. It is amazing how quickly time has passed since BIG SPLASH 2009. Last year was BIG SPLASH’s 20th anniversary. It was a great success and it was a wonderful event, thank you!!

We, at Youth for Christ West Puget Sound (YFCWPS), have been blessed to work with you over the last 20 years, reaching teens together for Christ. It has been a joy to see the kids line up outside the park, have fun all day in the water and on the rides, and then enjoy the evening concert. Through our partnership, God has used BIG SPLASH to reach thousands of teens with the Gospel.

Each year, our Board, staff, and BIG SPLASH volunteers pray for God’s guidance and direction as we begin to plan for the next year. Each year we prayerfully consider how BIG SPLASH fits into the overall mission of YFCWPS. This year, we asked many of you to participate in a survey. As a result, we realized that BIG SPLASH had become an event targeted more at Christian youth than non-Christian youth. As a result, we have been praying for over three months since that God would give us direction. During these three months, Wild Waves informed us of a major contract change which would result in more than a 7.5% increase in our costs to the park.

After careful consideration, many meetings, and TONS of prayer, YFCWPS has decided to not continue BIG SPLASH next year. God has allowed us to host this event for 20 years, but we believe He is closing this chapter. Continuing with our goal to reach lost youth, however, we will be doing other outreach events in the future, just in a different venue. Our mission is not changing…we still want to reach unchurched youth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I would personally like to thank you again for your support and devotion you have shown to us over the past 20 years. BIG SPLASH is an event that has been strong and true for so long because so many believed in its purpose, reaching lost youth for Christ. We are anxious to have another event soon and look forward to your involvement!
